Illuminating presentation on the role of neuropsychology, Jamie. As physiotherapists, we so often work with clients presenting with psychological or cognitive variables that pose a barrier to their engagement and progress with therapy – whether that’s poor self-efficacy or health beliefs, emotional lability, poor memory and transfer of skills outside of therapy, poor adjustment to disability and the subsequent impacts of that, and so on. Clearly there’s such a huge role for NP in cog rehab that would undoubtedly assist people in their physical rehab as well, and I’ll be much more mindful of interdisciplinary management in future with these clients. Great simple tips as well – especially the quick distraction tricks in moments of emotional lability.
