FND in Clinical Practice | Beyond the Basics Masterclass is an advanced, fully online and on-demand learning experience designed for Physiotherapists, Exercise Physiologists and Occupational Therapists looking to deepen their clinical reasoning and practical management of complex FND presentations. This self-paced Masterclass combines expert-led teaching with real-world case studies to bridge the gap between understanding FND and confidently applying that knowledge in everyday clinical practice. You’ll have the flexibility to learn when it suits you and revisit each module throughout the course.
You will explore the assessment and management of a broad range of complex FND presentations, including functional gait disorders, Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD), chronic pain, functional tremor, functional cognitive symptoms and other overlapping clinical presentations. Through detailed case studies drawn from experienced FND clinicians and ARC’s interdisciplinary team, you’ll gain practical insight into how rehabilitation strategies are adapted to meet the unique needs of each individual.

More than simply presenting the evidence, this Masterclass explores the clinical reasoning behind decision-making. You’ll examine why some interventions succeed, why progress can sometimes stall, and how experienced clinicians adapt their approach when managing complex, fluctuating or less predictable presentations. You’ll also develop greater confidence communicating FND diagnoses and symptoms in a way that strengthens therapeutic relationships and supports patient engagement.
By the end of this masterclass, you will gain:
- Greater confidence managing complex and evolving FND presentations.
- Practical, evidence-informed rehabilitation strategies you can implement immediately.
- Advanced clinical reasoning skills developed through real-world case studies.
- A deeper understanding of interdisciplinary FND management across a range of clinical settings.
This masterclass is ideally suited to: Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Exercise Physiologists who
- Have foundational knowledge or some clinical experience working with people living with FND
- Want to build greater confidence managing more complex or less straightforward FND presentations
- Are seeking practical, case-based learning that reflects the realities and unpredictability of clinical practice
- Want to deepen their clinical reasoning and decision-making skills when progress is inconsistent or treatment outcomes are unclear
- Are interested in understanding how different members of the multidisciplinary team contribute to FND management
- Want to learn directly from experienced FND clinicians and real-world interdisciplinary case studies
You'll walk away with:
- The confidence to explain FND using clear, compassionate and non-stigmatising language that supports patient understanding and engagement
- A deeper understanding of complex FND presentations, including functional gait disorders, Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD), chronic pain, functional cognitive symptoms, functional dystonia and functional tremor
- Advanced clinical reasoning skills to help tailor assessment and rehabilitation strategies to the individual needs of each client
- Practical, evidence-informed approaches that translate directly into day-to-day clinical decision making
- Greater confidence recognising and responding to fluctuating symptoms, treatment barriers and stalled progress throughout the rehabilitation journey
- Practical strategies for adapting interventions when presentations are complex, overlapping or continually evolving
- A broader understanding of the role of neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology and the wider multidisciplinary team in delivering effective FND care
- Greater confidence collaborating across disciplines to support coordinated, patient-centred rehabilitation
- Valuable insights gained from real-world case studies that strengthen your clinical reasoning and support more confident decision making in practice
